Class: Goals/Content:
Agility III

Class is structured for those interested in formal Agility competition or for those currently competing.

  • Classes are an hour long and run for 6 weeks (consult class calendar for dates of classes)

Prerequisites:

  • For dogs at least 1 year of age (or permission from an instructor if younger)
  • Successful completion of Agility II and/or instructor approval

This class covers intermediate/advanced handling techniques-- honing the teamwork between dog and handler.

  • Increased distance and directional handling
  • Distance Challenge (the Gamble)
  • Layering
  • Course walking, planning and memorization strategies
  • Optimized handling for the specific dog/handler team
  • Complex courses
  • Critique of handling choices
  • Traps and problem solving
  • Specific venue rules-- avoiding common faults
  • Steps to enter and compete in a trial
